Topic: Need new computer

well my nearly 4-year old piece of crap (can't even play battlefield 2 online without lowest specs). kinda died, it's at the comp store right now, ram is corrupt, problems with screen that they don't know (hell if i do).  fortunately the memory is fine, so i'll get all my crap back.

anyhow, like Anarchist, i need a new computer.  i know close to nothing however, so i decided to ask for help.

i am looking for a gaming laptop, size and weight don't really matter, i don't even care if it's 20lbs.
i was looking at Asus and Hp, but i'm not sure, and i don't want the computer to run past $1750 USD, 1500 if possible.

i'm not really sure about windows 7's new photo editor either, is there a way to download MSpaint?  i don't think i'm going to downgrade to XP, even though i like it.

any suggestions?  thanks for any help.

i think sprites is a pretty cool guy, eh makes pixels and doesn't afraid of anything.

I got pretty much all my parts from Newegg.  My current rig has cost me about $750 total.

Desktop (Used this myself.)

Laptop (Can't confirm with personal experience, but I did get the site from Ars, so I'm fairly confident that it's decent enough.

Though if you REALLY want to wallow in it, Tom's Hardware will probably give you far more than you'll ever want to know.
